Arad in Romania. The city is an industrial center in Banat, up to 1918 it belonged to the Austro-Hungarian empire.

The architecture in the center clearly shows its history and the fact that the city was part of the rich cites of the old monarchy. Since the revolution many things happened and the buildings look splendid. You have to look in the backyard to see that this is only true for the facades in the center of the towns.

In romanian cities you will find very often some plates to commemorate the revolution in 1989, which was far more violent than in other countries of Central Europe.

And there is a street sign that you do not see in many western towns: horse carriages are banned from the city center!
