Montenegro. The country of the black hills. Close to Serbia, but still different. Small differences in the language, but larger ones in the history. Montenegro leaders achieved some kind of self-government even during the Turkish time.

Budva Bay

Center of Kotor

The bay of Kotor is one of the most beautiful areas in Europe. Mountains and sea are very close together in this most southern fjord of Europe. But tourism is still to be developed, what could be a Paradise needs investment and development.

Center of Kotor

In the night, we cross at rough sea the Kotor bay. I have to think on Heinrich von Kriegshaber, who crossed here in February 1918 with his torpedo boat. It is a long time since Austria's naval forces had their harbor here. The Lloyd of Triest was one of the biggest steamboat companies in the Mediterranean sea. Emperor Charles gave the Navy to the new SHS state, the later Jugoslavia. But many boats have been sunk in the last days of the war as the crews had left the boats, and others have been taken by the victors. Only the buildings on the land give testimony of the Austrian Naval history.
