The bucks of the Admont crib
One of the most famous works of the woodcarver Josef Thaddäus Stammel is the large crib. Stammel has made numerous woodcarvings for the monastery in Admont.  The crib was created in 1745.  In a mountainous landscape, you can recognize the Buchsteine, two mountains near Admont.  On a projecting rock, stands a castle and, downward, two reared goat bucks are smashing their horns. Heidecker family crib (Oberammergau woodcarving)
Stammel is told to have given them the faces of two brothers, fathers Amand and Willibald Griessenböck ("gray buck"), who were quarreling a lot. They shared monastery life with Stammel for a while and he could often hear them argue.
